UNESCO European Athletics Young Leaders Community

Blog

Hello Everyone

Thursday 11 November 2010

Dear Friends,

I am Kreete Pruul from Estonia and athletics has been my passion since I was a little girl. Last winter I applied as a volunteer for the European Athletics Championships. In May I had an interview in Barcelona and they offered me to work for the UNESCO Young Leaders Forum as a Team Leader. Of course I grabbed this opportunity and I must say that it was one of the best experiences in my life.

Our responsibility was to make sure that all the participants were feeling good and enjoying the forum and I think we all had a great time there. All the fantastic speakers like Sergei Bubka gave us inspiration and well organised workshops gave us motivation to engage with athletics in different ways as an athlete, judge and volunteer.

During the forum the participants had to develop the idea of young leaders community, which is now working and will be improved every day. They had wonderful discussions in the workshops and I think it will help to keep this community alive.

I think that we "the new generation" need this community to share our experiences and learn something new from others. I am sure that the community will prove itself very soon and in the following years we have much more members who are actively taking part.

"Citius, Altius, Fortius"

Big thanks to European Athletics and UNESCO. You have done a great job!

Best wishes,

Kreete Pruul

    Hi Kreete
Thank you for this contribution. Athletics does need a new generation and I think the exchanges that are starting to happen now through this community could be the start. I look forward to hearing more from you and others.

I aggre with you, about the New Generation, because we have a new approach, and we can help to make our sport better, in a co-operation with the others who have other approach. Dont forget that we have to learn a lot!
