    I have been a volunteer since the age of 15 when I started to assist my Athletics Coach in school training events. Now at the age of 24, I have seen my volunteering expand from local (with Law & District Athletics Club) to International (with ISCA - the International Sport and Culture Association).

    Over 9 years, I have been involved in many events, coached many children and young people and worked with several coaches, staff and organisations and until now, not fully understood the importance of my volunteering.

    If you think about athletics you might consider it an individual sports. And it is true because athletes can perform by themselves: they can jump, throw or run individually. On the other hand, sports like soccer, basketball, hockey and all types of “team sports” need more players.

    But athletics has quite a lot of “team spirit”. How boring would be running all the time by yourself? Imagine Olympic games with one participant for event… not fun! So we need each other to compete or even to train. Just think: how many elite athletes practice by themselves? Would they perform better ...

  • Train your body and your mind

    I would like to share my experience with “sports coaching” because it is something that has changed my outlook on life.

    I had already practiced athletics for 20 years combining training with studies and work, when the president of the Club Valencia Terra i Mar gave me the opportunity to just focus 100% on training and competing.
