  • I mentored at the WIWA Seminar

    Earlier this month, from 4-7 April, I took part in the second “Women in World Athletics” (WIWA) seminar in Kenilworth, UK, together with 52 women from 22 countries.

    The seminar was organised by European Athletics and British Athletics with the collaboration of Loughborough University and Derby University. It took place in conjunction with the British Athletics Officials Conference and is a part of long–term programme to support women leaders, which is linked to the 2017 IAAF World Championships in Athletics to be held in London.

  • Zurich 2014, a time for opportunities

    The people are getting excited. The coaches are planning well. The athletes keep training hard. And the young leaders start to network. The athletics family is looking forward the big event of this summer: 2014 European Athletics Championship in Zurich, Switzerland.

    For sure this big event is going to receive many athletes from all around Europe and they will bring their best performance to the track and field to keep the public standing and cheering.   • How young could a volunteer be??

    Last weekend I was at Spanish national indoor championship, at Sabadell (30min out of Barcelona). There were over 350 athletes and over 50 volunteers helping with the organization of the event.

    The local organizing committee was the one in charge of selecting the personnel. At Sabadell, they have a big athletics team with a lot of teens involved in the program. Also, the coaches and staff of Sabadell athletic club were the volunteer coordinators at this big event. While talking to them, I listen the reason why so many young people were helping at the track.
